David S. Lynch

Managing Director

David Lynch is a Managing Director and has led Athena's market analysis and investment research effort since 2004. David is responsible for providing macroeconomic input into Athena's asset allocation and investment strategy. He oversees Athena's research and portfolio management team covering the entire spectrum of public and private asset classes in addition to addressing client-specific requests on a variety of topics. David has particular expertise in hedge funds, emerging markets, and fixed income investments.

Prior to joining Athena, David was the Portfolio Manager for emerging markets fixed income at Colorado PERA, the $30 billion state pension fund. During his time at PERA, David also covered various industries for the high yield and investment grade corporate debt portfolios. Previously, he worked at Eaton Vance Management in Boston where he was a member of the research and trading team for the strategic income fund that included global bonds, currencies, and derivatives, as well as the government obligations fund that included mortgage backed securities, agency debt, and Treasury bonds. David began his career as an Economist covering the global electronics industry for Cahners Economics.

David holds a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College. David is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society and an affiliate member the CFA Society of Colorado.
