Lisette Cooper featured on ‘Modern Family Office’ Panel at Invest In Women Conference in Dallas
Athena Capital Advisors Founder and Chief Investment Officer, Dr. Lisette Cooper, was a featured speaker at Financial Advisor’s recent “Invest In Women” Conference, held on May 10 in Dallas, Texas. Financial Advisor, following the event, recapped key themes from the panel in an article, “The Modern Family Office Must Be A Multifamily Affair.”
Cooper, at the event, participated alongside co-panelist Whitney Kenter, Partner and Managing Member at Matter Family Office as part of a fireside chat that was moderated by Financial Advisor Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Director Evan Simonoff.
The article, authored by reporter Christopher Robbins, mirrored the discussion at the event in which Cooper and Kenter detailed the evolution of the family office over the past 30 years. Cooper, for instance, noted that few individual families, even among the ultra-high-net-worth, have enough investable assets to both access and achieve the diversity across asset classes to maximize their risk adjusted returns.
“I came from the institutional side of the business, working with very wealthy families, and still most of them could not afford a single-family office,” explained Cooper, further adding: “Around the late 1990s and the early 2000s, we witnessed the rise of the multifamily office as the modern version of the family office.”
Cooper and Kenter also discussed issues around the transfer of wealth and strategies to engage the next generation through philanthropy or even impact investments. The article is available here.
